We’ve just come off a heady week here at WMG Publishing, with two workshops filled with amazing writers and taught be our very own Kristine Kathryn Rusch and Dean Wesley Smith as well as guest editors John Helfers and Kerrie Hughes.

While they were here, all four of them selected stories for WMG Publishing’s new anthology series, which I’m excited beyond words to talk about.

Fiction River is an original fiction anthology series, with volumes appearing every two months. Modeled on successful anthology series of the past, from Orbit to Universe to Pulphouse: The Hardback Magazine, the goal of Fiction River is to provide a forum for “original ground-breaking fiction of all genres.”

Although the series is new, the overall series editors—the aforementioned Smith and Rusch—are well known for their editing prowess. They both won World Fantasy Awards for their work at Pulphouse Publishing, and Kris is the Hugo Award-winning former editor of the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.

Each anthology will have a different theme or genre, and often will have a different editor. Essentially, this is a magazine in book form—except the volume never goes out of print. The first anthology premieres April 16 with Fiction River: Unnatural Worlds. Dean and Kris have edited this one themselves. The anthology features fantasy stories set either in our world or an imaginary fantasy world by debut and well-known authors, including fan favorite Esther M. Friesner, National Book Award nominee Jane Yolen, and The New York Times bestselling author David Farland.

Upcoming volumes include How to Save the World, Time Streams, Christmas Ghosts, Hex in the City, Moonscapes and a special edition called Crime.

And the best part (OK, one of many best parts!)—you can subscribe to the anthology and have fantastic fiction show up in your email or snail mail every two months, plus a bonus month for the special edition! How great is that? Or if you prefer, you can buy a single volume. It’s like customizable fiction shopping.

For more information about the authors, volumes or how to subscribe to Fiction River, go to our Fiction River page http://www.fictionriver.com.

I’m sure you’ll be as swept away with this new product as we are.
